Shelton Marketwatch: November 30
Thursday, November 30
This past week in Shelton we had 6 new listings, 8 homes that went under deposit and 6 homes sold.
5 Surprisingly Good Reasons to buy a home during the holiday season...
During the months of November and December, the housing market tends to slow down quite a bit. Buyer's can take advantage of this slow down because there is less competition from other buyer's. This means that it is less likely that buyer's will have to compete with multiple offers on a property. Being involved in multiple offer's is extremely stressful for buyer's who have found the home of their dreams.
2. Motivated Seller's
Homeowner's who list their home for sale during the holiday's usually have a very good reason to sell at this time which means they are likely more motivated. Motivated seller's are usually more flexible and more open to negotiations. They also may want to sell before the winter cold of January and February set in. This is especially true if the seller's have already moved out of the home is left vacant.
3. Realistic View of House
Buyer's will get a better idea of what a home is like when touring during the holiday season. Issues that would not be noticeable during the warmer months can be seen, like drafty windows, unheated or inefficiently heated rooms, etc. Of course, other issues, like air conditioning, can not be tested during this time. There is always the option to hold money in escrow until it can be tested.
